Supplier Development Engineer (SDE) evaluates, monitors, and develops supplier's performance according to the Volvo Group expectations in terms of capacity, delivery, cost, and core values. SDE evaluates the current capacity and performance situation at the suppliers' manufacturing sites, identifies gaps and opportunities, ensures that roadmaps to close the gaps are in place and in the end, monitors implementation. To succeed, significant manufacturing or supplier development background is required where the candidate has been applying lean or other manufacturing concepts/philosophies on the factory shopfloor. Running VSM activities, collecting cycle time data, identifying waste, and analyzing OEE data are examples of what is expected. Lead level is a recognized specialist in Supplier development area obtained through education and work experience (position typically requires 5 years or more relevant experience). High level of autonomy, self organization and leadership is required.
