Job description:
The role is to support the development of camera-based functions, more specifically perception of objects (e.g. lanes, traffic signs, vehicles) in the vehicle surroundings. The job consists mainly on the validation and functional release of image perception modules for USA and Canadian markets. Tasks include test driving, management of requirement, tests, bugs and releases, as the development of supporting tools for process automation. The role will involve communicating with internal stakeholders and suppliers throughout the whole product lifecycle. The person is required to understand and track different driving legislations and market needs at the target areas. The candidate is required to pro-actively analyze problems, assess risks and propose feasible solutions. Finally, the role includes proposal and specification of new features for continuously developing new function.
Role Responsibilities:
- Concept Design and Requirement Management
- Work with team in Germany on specification of global scenarios and use cases
- Define specific requirements for US and Canada, including differences in regulation, culture and environment
- Support on requirement definitions for remaining countries of North and South America
- Work on market specific features
- Project planning and tracking, including synchronization with stake holders in Germany and in China
- Support the creation and implementation of functional architectures, safety analysis and safety concepts
- Testing
- Support the definition of measurement setup and cars together with involved parties
- Definition of test scope, test cases, test locations and scenarios considering the specific needs of the functionality and the current level of maturity (e.g. definition of tests on module, component or system level)
- Organization and execution of test drives in USA and Canada, in order to evaluate function (expectation of 8 to 16 weeks of the year out of the office)
- Definition of and implementation of automated tests, with the help of Hardware in the Loop and Simulation Systems.
- Test result analysis and reporting
- Ensuring the compliance of the intended functionality with all functional and non-functional requirements
- Problem Management
- Analysis of measured data, identification of problems and reporting
- Tracking issues in problem management tools
- Work on solutions with stakeholders, assuring feature completeness prior to project deadlines
- Follow up escalation processes when necessary
- Approval
- In charge of collecting all relevant test reports
- In charge of collecting the minor approvals of all involved components and functionalities
- Assurance enough test coverage for NAR region
- Issue a release recommendation based on performed tests and processes
- Support on the definition, implementation and maintenance of processes related to the function (e.g. SPICE 2, ISO 26262)
- Analysis, definition and implementation of supporting tools and scripts.
Required competence:
- Engineering graduates (internships experience in the field of computer vision or image based machine learning desired)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (electrical, computer science or comparable) with focus on computer vision and/ or Machine Learning or supplementary courses on computer vision/ machine learning outside of the Engineering program.
- Experience in the domain of computer vision and/or imaged based machine learning
- Expertise in embedded SW and its implementation
- Should be familiar with automotive communication standards and their measurement
- Driving skills including manual shifting and availability to travel up to a third of the time
- Excellent planning and organization, project management and time management skills
- Effective analytical and conceptual skills to derive adequate solutions for technical problems

Wanted competence:
• Master’s or PhD in in Engineering (electrical, computer science or comparable) with focus on computer vision and/ or Machine Learning
• Knowledge of softwares like IDEX, AVx, System 42, DOORS etc
• Prior experience working with different ADAS simulation tools as with Vector and ADTF measurement systems
• Basic German language skills (written and spoken)
• Knowledge of the programming languages C and Python
Work Flexibility:
• Flexibility to travel as needed (domestic and international)
